A rare species of bird of the monarch flycatcher genus; endemic to the Seychelles Islands.
Males measure about 20 cm and have two long black central tail feathers that can reach 30 cm; they are shiny black with dark blue reflections. Females are about 18 cm long (including the tail), with a reddish body, white belly, and blue face, beak, and legs.
