Kangaroos have large, powerful hind legs, large feet designed for hopping, a long, muscular tail for balance and a small head.
Kangaroos are herbivores, feeding on grass and roots. All species are nocturnal and crepuscular, usually spending the day quietly and feeding during the cool evenings and nights, usually in groups. They have a life expectancy of approximately 18 years.
Kangaroos are found mainly in Oceania. Popularly the kangaroo is known as the most representative animal of Australia.
